Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the questions we are often asked.

Question:

Does .net require donors to register before they can donate? Will .net redirect my donor to similar organizations or solicit my donor to make donations to other organizations? Does .net withhold donor information from me?

Answer:

No, No, No! .net does not, and will never, register donors into a general data base to sell to third parties. We maintain a data base of your patrons for your use only. Be cautious of firms telling you registering your donors into their data base will drive more people to your site. It doesn't work that way.

At .net we do not believe it is good for your donors, or your organization, to be redirected to other organizations, or to be tracked and solicited by a third party.

.net does not withhold donor information from you Be careful about firms who say they are protecting your donor by withholding donor information from your organization. Don't send your donor to "Register First Firms". Donors came to your Web site for its content and to further your mission, protect them.

Question:

Question:

Does the .net system provide an accounting of what is taxable or nontaxable for each donation processed?

Answer:

Yes, .net is the only system that does. .net's Donation Selector displays the tax deductible amount and makes a clear distinction between taxable and nontaxable donations. Each state has different tax codes. The .net tax system gives organizations the tools to make all or part of a transaction tax-deductible.

Question:

How quickly does the .net e-commerce system send receipts and acknowledgments?

Answer:

Immediately. At .net before your donor leaves the Web site a confirmation and receipt will be issued. With a unique tracking number, donors will always be able to reference the donation and verify the donation in their own tracking. An e-mail acknowledgment will be sent to the address they provide giving an additional receipt and thanking them for their support.
